Common Causes of Elbow Pain.

Most causes of elbow pain will fall into three main categories: tendon tear or inflammation (bursitis or tendinitis), arthritis or fracture.

  1. Elbow Bursitis.

Bursae are small fluid filled sacs that act as cushions between the bones and overlying soft tissues, they help by reducing the friction between bones and muscle. Sudden impact to the elbow or overuse of the elbow may cause the bursa in the elbow to swell, inflame & sometimes tear. When this occurs the condition is known as elbow bursitis. Normal work and sporting activities can become difficult. Bursitis in the elbow is one of the most common causes of pain in the back of the elbow pain and may appear as a protruding lump. Bursitis in the elbow is also known as Olecranon Bursitis. For further information and to discover how the OSMO Patch can help simply click on the link below.

  2. Tennis Elbow

Also known as Lateral Epicondylitis, Tennis elbow will normally cause pain on the outer area of the elbow joint. Whilst the common name given to the injury is tennis elbow it is not necessary that a person needs to have been playing tennis to have acquired this injury. 3. Medial Epicondylitis

Also know as Golfer’s elbow. Medial epicondylitis will normally cause pain on the inner area of the elbow joint. Once again as with Tennis Elbow it is not necessary that a person needs to have played golf to have acquired this injury. 4. Elbow Tendonitis

Tendons are cords that connect the muscles and the bones. Injury and wearing of tendons around the elbow may cause considerable pain in the area surrounding the joint. Degenerative diseases such as arthritis can also result in tendonitis. For further information and to discover how the OSMO Patch can help simply click on the link below.

  5. Elbow Arthritis

Elbow pain can also be due to arthritis. The most common arthritis affecting the elbows is osteoarthritis, also called “wear and tear”. This can often lead to elbow bursitis as well as tendonitis of the elbow.)

  6. Elbow fractures or broken bones.

Fractures and breaks in the elbow will usually cause extreme pain. Please consult your health care professional if you are experiencing this type of pain as such injuries need to be treated directly by a medical professional as soon as possible.

(Whilst elbow pain is predominantly due to a soft tissue injury you should always consult a medical professional for a proper diagnosis to ensure there is not a more serious injury or underlying cause that may need immediate medical attention.)

The patch applied on Friday night...no result as far as the 'mucky stuff. The other hip..due to be injected next week...plenty of muck. Both hips f... Read More » »

Hello, Thanks very much.... This order is my second one.... I developed a Baker’s cyst (I think) behind my left knee, jumping up and down hard on a truckload of brush I was trying to compact.... I’m 67 years old, and the next morning, I had pain behind my knees, then a large egg behind my left knee. I searched the internet, and found your website, and ordered the patches. They worked well to bring down the swelling. Then, I jumped up and... Read More » »

Hi Just a quick note that I feel I needed to write about the OSMO Patches. In September I tripped over while running and fell on my knee which left me with a fractured bone at the back of my knee which in turn ruptured my cruciate ligament. Although back on track now after various braces, crutches and hydrotherapy plus physiotherapy, it seemed I had gained a cyst at the back of my knee. This tight swelling really hindered my ability to improve and I ... Read More » »

I have been prescribed Naprelan 750mg for my shoulder. Tendonitis or bursitis, my Doctor said. It looked like a used feminine hygiene product! And today the pain is so much better. Amazing! Hopefully I can keep from the nee... Read More » »
