I had what a nurse practioner at St. Thomas’ Hospital in London called ‘that huge bursa’ on my right knee as a direct result of falling from the top of a railway staircase when the city was inundated with a snowfall and resulting ice. Ok, I have an arthritic knee from playing American football and having an operation when I was 18. Going to a doctor to have it drained would cost me well over $220. I know that I will need to get this knee replaced sometime in the near future and you can only do this one time, so it is in my best interest to find a way to prolong the knee replacement.

I tried the OSMO Patch about 1-2 years ago, thinking it may be a gimmick, and it was no gimmick because it works. The pressure on my knee is lessened by morning and I can move around a lot better. I would like to say how wonderful the patches are. I am proof that they work. I am 80 years old and had the excruciating pain of bursitis for 10 days. Knee Baker's Cysts and Meniscus tears

I’ve had knee problems for 3 decades and have had 4 surgeries due to an ACL tear and numerous Meniscus tears. Due to these problems, I’ve had a chronic problem with a Baker’s Cyst which I’ve been living with for years and the swelling has kept me in constant pain.

Knee problems

Dear Danniel,

I fell 1.5 meters landing on my patella. The pain was severe, after 2 weeks on crutches I was left with a fluid-filled bursa the size of half a golf-ball. I already had a swelling just below my kneecap for 5 years, and another specialist had thought this was probably a lipoma.

I’ve used 16 patches so far, in conjunction with acupuncture. The bursa began to shrink from the first patch, and is now almost gone. I’ve been able to return to my Taiji classes. What is more surprising is that the ‘lipoma’ also has almost vanished.

So, no invasive needle drainage for me, no surgery, and I’m recovering fast.
